separam as cidades de Manaus (AM) e Nouakchott, a capital da Maurit\u00e2nia, no deserto do Saara. Apesar da dist\u00e2ncia, o deserto do norte da \u00c1frica e a floresta amaz\u00f4nica t\u00eam uma rela\u00e7\u00e3o mais estreita do que senso comum nos leva a acreditar.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles \" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"51\" data-block-id=\"3\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container \" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">T\u00e3o inesperado quanto esta liga\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 o fato de ser o deserto que beneficia a mata, e n\u00e3o o contr\u00e1rio &#8211; sendo respons\u00e1vel pela maior parte das chuvas torrenciais que caem sobre a regi\u00e3o, mantendo sua exuber\u00e2ncia e biodiversidade. Al\u00e9m de enviar toneladas de nutrientes para sua vegeta\u00e7\u00e3o, como o f\u00f3sforo.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles \" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"46\" data-block-id=\"4\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container \" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">Os &#8220;n\u00facleos de condensa\u00e7\u00e3o&#8221; &#8211; a parte da nuvem em que o vapor de \u00e1gua se condensa &#8211; s\u00e3o formados, entre outros elementos, por part\u00edculas em suspens\u00e3o no ar &#8211; poeira, por exemplo. No caso da floresta amaz\u00f4nica, uma parcela desses aeross\u00f3is \u00e9 proveniente do Saara.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles \" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"43\" data-block-id=\"5\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container \" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">&#8220;Este fen\u00f4meno de transporte ocorre principalmente na parte norte da Amaz\u00f4nia, mas j\u00e1 foi registrado tamb\u00e9m na \u00e1rea central da regi\u00e3o, como, por exemplo, ao sul de Manaus&#8221;, explica o f\u00edsico Paulo Artaxo, do Instituto de F\u00edsica da Universidade de S\u00e3o Paulo (IF-USP).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles \" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"61\" data-block-id=\"6\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container \" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">Ele \u00e9 um dos integrantes de uma equipe de pesquisadores do Brasil, dos Estados Unidos e da Alemanha que vem desenvolvendo, h\u00e1 uma d\u00e9cada, um trabalho que levou \u00e0 descoberta de que a poeira do deserto ajuda a formar nuvens sobre a Amaz\u00f4nia Central, onde se localiza Manaus, que s\u00e3o respons\u00e1veis por cerca de 80% das chuvas que caem na regi\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles \" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"12\" data-block-id=\"7\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container \" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">Mas como o deserto cria precipita\u00e7\u00f5es a milhares de quil\u00f4metros de dist\u00e2ncia?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles \" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"97\" data-block-id=\"8\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container \" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">Segundo Artaxo, o fen\u00f4meno ocorre todos os anos. Ele come\u00e7a com as tempestades no Saara, que levantam toneladas de poeira e areia. De acordo com Artaxo, a quantidade desses elementos nas part\u00edculas coletadas na Amaz\u00f4nia \u00e9 igual a encontrada na poeira do Saara. &#8220;Al\u00e9m disso, h\u00e1 a correla\u00e7\u00e3o entre a presen\u00e7a desses aeross\u00f3is e o movimento das massas de ar&#8221;, diz. &#8220;Isso prova que eles vieram mesmo do deserto africano.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles \" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"70\" data-block-id=\"20\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container \" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">Os cientistas ainda n\u00e3o t\u00eam 100% de certeza sobre o mecanismo pelo qual os aeross\u00f3is do Saara ajudam a formar as nuvens e, por consequ\u00eancia, as chuvas que caem torrencialmente na regi\u00e3o. A hip\u00f3tese mais prov\u00e1vel \u00e9 que o ferro, presente na poeira do deserto, pode funcionar como um suporte, sobre o qual o vapor d&#8217;\u00e1gua se condensa, formando n\u00facleos de gelo, que depois se transformam em gotas de chuva.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles\" data-block-type=\"raw\" data-block-weight=\"2\" data-block-id=\"21\">\n<div class=\"content-intertitle\">\n<h2>Fertilizante natural<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-ads content-ads--reveal\" data-block-type=\"ads\" data-block-id=\"22\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles \" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"15\" data-block-id=\"23\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container \" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">N\u00e3o s\u00e3o apenas simples gr\u00e3os de poeira, entretanto, que o Saara manda para a Amaz\u00f4nia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles \" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"65\" data-block-id=\"24\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container \" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">Em 2015, a Nasa, a ag\u00eancia espacial americana, divulgou um estudo segundo o qual todos os anos o deserto envia, junto com o p\u00f3, 22 mil toneladas de f\u00f3sforo, nutriente encontrado em fertilizantes comerciais e essencial para o crescimento da floresta. \u00c9 quase a mesma quantidade que a mata produz, com a decomposi\u00e7\u00e3o das \u00e1rvores ca\u00eddas e, em seguida, perde com as chuvas e inunda\u00e7\u00f5es.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles \" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"62\" data-block-id=\"25\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container \" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">Segundo o levantamento da Nasa, todos os anos 182 milh\u00f5es de toneladas de poeira &#8211; mais ou menos o equivalente a 690 mil de caminh\u00f5es de areia &#8211; saem do Saara para as Am\u00e9ricas do Sul e Central.
